ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (AJCEP)

Cooperation between ASEAN and Japan was established in 1973 through the ASEAN-Japan Forum, then formalized in March 1977. Since then, economic cooperation in all fields has been achieved. made significant progress.

Japan's strong commitment to supporting the building of the ASEAN Community is evident through its initiatives and support for many specific and mutually beneficial activities. ASEAN's strong economic growth has also contributed to strengthening ties with Japan.

The Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Partnership (CEP) between ASEAN and Japan was signed by the Leaders of ASEAN and Japan on 8 October 2003 in Bali during the ASEAN-Japan Summit. Under this framework agreement, all Parties have committed to implementing the CEP between ASEAN and Japan, aimed at strengthening economic ties, creating a larger and more efficient market with more opportunities and economic scale. greater economy, while enhancing its attractiveness to capital and talent, for the common good. .

After the Framework Agreement was signed, negotiations on the ASEAN-Japan CEP (AJCEP) were initiated in April 2005, and after 11 rounds of negotiations, were essentially concluded in November. 2007.

ASEAN member countries and Japan signed the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (AJCEP) on 14 April 2008.
