On April 3, 2023, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) announced a list of 70 Vietnamese sweet potato growing regions and 13 packaging facilities allowed to import into China. This is the result of an active negotiation process between specialized agencies of the two countries, from the submission of technical documents to open the market for Vietnamese fresh sweet potatoes exported to China until the end of the year. when signing the Protocol on imported plant quarantine requirements for Vietnam's sweet potatoes (collectively referred to as the Protocol) on November 9, 2022.
Furthermore, the two sides closely coordinated online inspections of sweet potato growing areas and packing facilities before and after this Protocol was signed during the period from October 27-28/ 2022 and from March 7-10, 2023 to unify the content and assess the level of compliance of sweet potato production and export facilities according to the requirements of the Protocol.
Through online inspection and technical exchange, Chinese experts confirmed that among the 23 packaging facilities, 13 package facilities meet the requirements of the protocol, the remaining 10 packaging facilities also have Issues that need to be overcome include: substandard management system, incomplete equipment, poor technical specifications or facilities that do not meet the requirements of the protocol.
