The first group of import-export goods to reach a scale of 100 billion USD

(HQ Online) - By the end of September, there was the first group of import-export goods with a turnover of 100 billion USD, according to the latest preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs.

The product group achieving the above turnover scale is computers, electronic products and components with 104.23 billion USD.

This is also the country's first import-export group to achieve a three-digit turnover scale.

At the same time, in terms of exports and imports, this product group holds the largest position. Notably, after many years of ranking second after phones and components, in 2023, computers, electronic products and components have become our country's largest export group.

Specifically, by the end of September, exports of computers, electronic products and components reached 41.41 billion USD, down 1.1% compared to the same period last year; Imports reached 62.82 billion USD, down 1.8% over the same period last year. Thus, by the end of September, this group of goods had a trade deficit of 21.41 billion USD.

The main export markets of this product group can be mentioned as: United States, China, EU, Hong Kong (China)...

While major import markets can be mentioned as Korea, China, Taiwan (China)...

By the end of September, the group of computers, electronic products and components alone accounted for 21% of the country's total import-export turnover.

In the past 9 months, the scale of import-export turnover of the whole country reached 496.30 billion USD, down 11.2% (equivalent to a decrease of 62.78 billion USD) compared to the same period last year. Of which, exports reached 258.97 billion USD, down 8.5% (equivalent to a decrease of 24.02 billion USD); Imports reached 237.33 billion USD, down 14% (equivalent to a decrease of 38.76 billion USD).
