The 2 km long Nguyen Thi Dinh street leading to Cat Lai port was expanded from 6-8 m to 30 m with a total estimated capital of more than 2,000 billion VND to reduce congestion and accidents.
The content is stated in the report of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to the City People's Council, term X, at the 13th session, opening on the morning of December 6. The upgraded Nguyen Thi Dinh street has a length of 2 km, from Giong Ong To bridge to My Thuy bridge.
The project to expand Nguyen Thi Dinh street has an investment policy in 2015, using the city budget. At that time, the project was divided into two separate projects. However, the project still cannot be constructed due to land problems.
In this submission, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed to combine two separate projects into a project to build, upgrade and expand Nguyen Thi Dinh street with a total investment of more than 2,075 billion VND. Of which, construction costs remain the same but compensation costs are 295 billion VND, and nearly 1,800 billion VND for site clearance (an increase of more than 660 billion VND compared to the original).
According to the City People's Committee, capital for compensation and site clearance increased, due to prolonged compensation, support, and resettlement, leading to a change in the land price adjustment coefficient to calculate compensation. The increase in total project capital is also due to the addition of two positions.
After the project is approved, the authorities will carry out compensation, support, and resettlement for approved cases, and complete investment procedures for component projects next year. . In 2025, agencies will organize bidding, start the project and complete and put the project into use in 2026.
Cat Lai is the leading port in the country in terms of cargo output with more than 19,000 vehicles entering and exiting each day. Roads in and out of the port are often congested due to very high vehicle density, especially trucks and containers. Along with the Nguyen Thi Dinh street expansion project, Ho Chi Minh City has also implemented the My Thuy intersection project (phase one), expanding Dong Van Cong street to reduce congestion in this area.
At this meeting, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also asked the City People's Council to consider approving many other large transportation projects such as: building bridge - Nguyen Khoai street worth more than 3,700 billion VND (District 4), upgrading Chu Van An street more than 1,000 billion VND (Binh Thanh district)…
