The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) between ASEAN and 6 partners that have FTAs with ASEAN, namely China, Korea, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand, began negotiations on May 9. /two thousand and thirteen. In November 2019, member countries basically completed negotiations on the RCEP document (except India - which announced its withdrawal from this Agreement).
On November 15, 2020, 15 RCEP member countries (except India) signed RCEP. This Agreement will officially take effect within 60 days from the date of ratification by at least 6 ASEAN member countries and 3 non-ASEAN member countries.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is an agreement that aims to expand and deepen the bonds between ASEAN and Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand. The total countries participating in RCEP account for about 30% of global GDP and 30% of world population. The goal of the RCEP Agreement is to establish a modern, comprehensive, high-quality and mutually beneficial economic partnership platform, creating favorable conditions for the expansion of trade and investment in the region, while contributing to global economic growth and development. Accordingly, the Agreement will bring market and job opportunities for businesses and people in the region. The RCEP Agreement will accompany and support an open, inclusive and rules-based multilateral trading system.
