The Vietnam Lawyers Association recently held a conference to organize training to improve legal knowledge on environmental protection for officials and members.
Accordingly, the topics of environmental law disseminated at the conference include: Environmental protection and sustainable development; Compensate for damages caused by acts that pollute the environment; Legal regulations on environmental protection and implementation practices in sea reclamation projects and marine environmental protection; Laws on collection, classification, transportation, and treatment of household solid waste at source and practice; Policies and laws on sustainable development and environmental protection and the role of the Vietnam Lawyers Association in environmental protection.
Training to improve legal knowledge on environmental protection for staff and members is an activity in the 2023 Work Program of the Vietnam Lawyers' Association.
In 2018, the Vietnam Bar Association and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment signed a coordination program on coordinating the work of building, disseminating and educating laws in the field of natural resources and environment for the period 2018-2023. . Based on the proposal of the Vietnam Bar Association and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Prime Minister agreed to assign the Vietnam Lawyers Association the task of "Propagation and training to improve knowledge and skills to protect environment for staff and members of the Lawyers' Association at all levels".
For the task of developing policies and laws on environmental protection, the Vietnam Lawyers Association identifies 5 methods of participation, including: Participating in the Drafting Committee, the Editorial Team of the Law on Environmental Protection, and other projects. Laws related to environmental protection and draft guiding documents; Participate in appraisal and verification of projects and draft legal documents on environmental protection; Organize scientific seminars, seminars, conferences to provide feedback and social criticism for draft legal documents on environmental protection; Participate in reviewing, surveying, summarizing and evaluating law enforcement practice to detect inadequacies, conflicts or new problems arising in practice, which plays an important role in contributing to amendments and supplements. or promulgate new legal documents on environmental protection and participate in developing regulations, village conventions, cultural conventions and other self-governance regulations at localities, units and establishments that integrate content on environmental protection.
